The little video worth a thousand words

You don’t need a film crew or a big budget. Your phone and two minutes are enough to build trust with your future clients.

By Jean-François Gauthier

We often think video is reserved for big companies with studio budgets. That’s false. A little video shot on your phone, imperfect but genuine, is often worth more than a polished, cold production. Why? Because people don’t buy from a business, they buy from a person. And nothing shows who you are faster than a video where they see your face and hear your voice.

Why video builds trust so fast

A hesitant client is asking one question: “can I trust this person?” Text can reassure them, but a video answers the question in a few seconds. They see your smile, hear the way you talk, sense that you’re serious. No beautiful page of text creates that human connection as fast. By showing yourself as you are, you take away a big part of the doubt.

Three dead-simple videos to make

You don’t need a complicated script. Three easy formats cover almost all your needs, and each one films in a single take, without fancy editing.

  • The introduction: 30 seconds where you say who you are and what you do.
  • The job in progress: a task filmed on the spot, to show your craft.
  • The testimonial: a happy client telling, in their own words, what you did for them.

The gear: what you already have is enough

Your phone already films in nice quality. Three habits are enough to make it look polished: film in a quiet spot so you’re heard clearly, face a window for good natural light, and rest your phone on something so it doesn’t shake. That’s it. No thousand-dollar microphone, no complicated software.

People forgive a slightly shaky image, never a lack of sincerity. Be genuine before you’re perfect.

Where to put your videos

A hidden video is useless. Put your introduction front and centre on your home page, add your testimonials near your services, share your work videos on your social media. The same video can live in several places and work for you for months. It’s one of the most profitable pieces of content you can create, for barely a few minutes of effort.

If you want us to cleanly add your little videos to your site so they reassure your visitors from the first second, write me. We’ll look at it together and get you started, even if you’ve never liked seeing yourself on screen.
