Voice search: when your clients talk to their phone
More and more people ask their questions out loud. Writing the way you talk and answering real questions is what makes you findable by voice.
When we type into Google, we often write in shorthand: “italian resto Sherbrooke.” But when we talk to our phone, we ask a real question, in full: “what’s the best italian restaurant near here, open tonight?” This way of searching changes everything, and more and more of your clients use it without even thinking about it.
People speak in full sentences
Out loud, nobody says “pharmacy opening hours.” They say “what time does the pharmacy close tonight?” Voice searches are longer, more natural, and sound like real conversations. To be found, your site benefits from containing those questions the way people ask them, with clear answers right below.
The good news is you don’t have to force anything. Writing the way you talk (simply, speaking directly to the person) is exactly what voice search rewards. A natural style isn’t just friendlier now: it makes you findable.
Answer your clients’ real questions
Think of the questions you get asked all the time, in person or on the phone. “Do you take walk-ins?” “Is there parking?” “How much for…?” Each of those questions can become a small piece of your site. By answering them in plain sight, you help both the person reading and the voice assistant looking for an answer to read aloud.
- Note the questions your clients ask you most often.
- Write them on your site the way people say them out loud.
- Give a short, clear answer right below each one.
- Keep a natural tone, as if you were answering in person.
- A frequently asked questions page is perfect for this.
“Near me” works for you
A big share of voice searches are local: “mechanic near me,” “florist open close by.” People want a solution right now, not in another city. If your local information is clear (your town, your neighbourhood, your address, your hours), you’re the natural candidate when someone asks for help around them.
Voice search rewards those who talk like real people. Write the way you’d answer a client standing right in front of you.
Be specific about your corner of the world
Never assume Google knows where you are. Spell out your town and region on your site, keep your business listing up to date, and be clear about the area you serve. The more locally rooted and honest you are about your zone, the higher you climb when someone says “near me” out loud.
If you want us to spot your clients’ real questions together and answer them clearly on your site, so voice can find you, write me. We’ll look at it together and put your corner of the world front and centre, one question at a time.
