Mon conseiller à distance
Insurance, investments, retirement: a clear financial plan, explained without the jargon.
The brief
Maxime L. Bélanger has been a financial security advisor since 2015, based in Laval and the North Shore. He meets clients remotely, over video, anywhere in Quebec. The trade is serious; the way he explains it isn’t. He translates, he defuses, he refuses jargon. None of that made it online.
The brief: build a site that earns trust in an industry where people have been burned, without turning cold and corporate. A visitor had to grasp in 10 seconds what Maxime does, who for, and how a first call goes. Above all, they should never feel like something is being sold to them.
My approach
The identity starts from midnight blue and gold: sober enough for an advisor, warm enough not to read like a bank. Maxime’s portrait sits at the top of the page rather than hidden in an about section, because choosing an advisor means choosing a person before choosing a product.
The hero ends with an “I am…” selector (young family, self-employed, business owner, retiree) that rewrites the promise to match the visitor’s situation. One screen speaking to four audiences, with no four landing pages to maintain.
Three service blocks (risk management, savings and investments, retirement and estate), a process shown step by step, and an FAQ that answers the genuinely awkward questions, compensation included. The call to action never changes: a 30-minute call, free, no strings.
For visitors not ready to talk to anyone yet, I added “Mon profil d’investisseur”, a free tool that prepares them for the meeting instead of harvesting an email address for nothing.
The result
The site does the sorting before the call. People arrive knowing what to expect, which situation they fall into, and why the first meeting costs nothing. Basic compensation questions now get settled on the FAQ page rather than on the phone.
In finance, trust is earned by answering the awkward questions before anyone has to ask them.
